PMB.exe

File Name: PMB.exe
Usefulness Rating:
The PMB.exe process is Pando Media Booster, which is a downloader utility used by games online to download updates directly, rather than from the game company's server. It also enables your computer to get high downloading speed or streaming speed of very large files such as high-quality HDTV video, or giant games. Although the process has CPU issues sometimes, it is safe to users without malicious files. It can be removed through ‘add/remove programs’ in the Control Panel.
Recommendation:
PMB.exe is a downloader utility to speed up downloads. It causes no damage to PC performance. But spyware or virus would disguise themselves as it. Thus, make sure always check the location of the file and run anti-virus/malware software to scan and remove problems if there is any.

Listen, I'm not saying this will happen to everyone... But I just got my third EVGA GTX 670 GPU; doing the whole tri-sli thing. Ever since I installed it, I've been seeing spikes in all 3 gpus, every 10 seconds; clock speeds, power consumption, you name it. It was clockwork. It starts to raise the temperatures of all three GPUs; during idle time - not a problem, but thats not what worried me - the voltages and clock speeds is what worried me. I couldn't figure it out; these cards were all at factory settings. I watched the spikes in my task explorer, and found that PMB.exe chewed up some CPU power, just as the spikes began. I'm not saying that this is what pmb.exe is supposed to do... but it did it nonetheless. The dangerous thing was on the 3rd card, at every spike, it brought clock speeds to over 1200mhz; that thing is set at 1000; with a boost clock of maybe 1050 - it has no business going that high. Voltage also went way too high at each spike. Over 1100mV. Anyway; this was a gut reaction. The first thing I did was uninstall the program causing the CPU spikes; no other changes were made. As soon as it was gone? No more spikes. PMB.exe was the culprit, 0 sure. MD5 hash checks showed no flags; and it did not show up as malicious on bitdefender. I feel as if the PMB.exe I had, was the legitimate version of the executable. Bottom line; be careful with this program - its already widely recognized as crapware - now you know of at least ONE person, where with pmb.exe running, it could of caused significant hardware damage. I'm not saying that was its intended purpose; sure it could of been some freak bug - but considering what it did, I think people should be extra mindful with this exe; especially if you have a SLI or Crossfire setup.
fuck pmb its shit!
