PMB.exe
File Name: | PMB.exe | ||
Usefulness Rating: | |||
The PMB.exe process is Pando Media Booster, which is a downloader utility used by games online to download updates directly, rather than from the game company's server. It also enables your computer to get high downloading speed or streaming speed of very large files such as high-quality HDTV video, or giant games. Although the process has CPU issues sometimes, it is safe to users without malicious files. It can be removed through ‘add/remove programs’ in the Control Panel. |
|||
Recommendation: | |||
PMB.exe is a downloader utility to speed up downloads. It causes no damage to PC performance. But spyware or virus would disguise themselves as it. Thus, make sure always check the location of the file and run anti-virus/malware software to scan and remove problems if there is any. |

P2P service, nothing to do with audio. Several games make you install this to help with VOIP, but it does NOTHING but upload/download data very insecurely and in very rare occasions. This is a very dangerous program with easily accessed back-doors capable of Keylogging, and Account-tracking. REMOVE is highly advised, particularly if you play WoW or use Online banking.

Browser didnt open any pages, WoW didnt launch. Killed PMB.exe and everything worked fine again... Also had 500ms+ in WoW last night when it still worked (normal is 40-50ms). Such a nuisance...

This program without warning you will use your bandwidth to help others download things (such as video streams or games). This program is not dangerous but should be uninstalled/blocked if you are not willing to share your bandwidth

It consistently ate up bandwidth and memory, and really screwed up programs that were trying to run. Delete it if you see it. It's a sort of legitimized malware.

Got a letter last week that i uploaded 200 gig in one week which is twice the limit i'm allowed. It usualy takes me months to generate that amount of traffic since i limit my torrents etc. after a bit of research it turned out to be this useless program. Probably came with black prophecy and i'm a bit pissed that it started uploading with 1mb/s without my permission. get rid of it as soon as you can.

This is the worst piece of malware I have ever seen. It steals your bandwidth as soon as you start up your computer. It also causes online games like LOTRO to lag severely. I would tell anyone that has it in add/remove programs or programs and features to uninstall as soon as your game download and installation is completed. It is something that is not needed to play online games.

So I thought to myself one day. "Hmm I ain't played LOTRO in a while might as well download it and play again for old times sake". So I went and downloaded the game but guess what? The download came packaged with this peice of garbage that made my bloody fresh new P.C slow down like a windows ME thanks to PMB here using up to 51% of me damn CPU! Dangerous, stupid and just plain not worth it. Avoid it like a pop-up!

PMB is PAndo media booster as said above. Although i thought it came with a computer, i would like to share a fact with you. As of right now i was downloading a game. I was half way through download, i deleted PMB from my processes. And my Kb/s while downloading DOUBLED. PMB is not a good program.

Came across it after installing LOTRO. I wasn't warned it would be installed, and it was causing my internet to act really slowly. Uninstalled it. Load of crap
