This service I have found was installed with InterVideo Windvd 8. It causes my laptop to thrash the hard drive and gives memory reference errors. Removing it causes the WinDVD program to stop working with an error stating that the program needs to be reinstalled.

if you use Corel programs then you need this running, like mentioned by others, this is part of some genuine licensing check Corel perform to validate the software as genuine

Lot's of companies in addition to Corel use this, it is a license verification service to prevent pirated software, or even legit software from being installed on more machines than licensed for. More information

@vomorg Your idea was correct, but I had to change it to: net start "Protexis Licensing V2" "Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo.exe" net stop "Protexis Licensing V2" As you can see I had to remove the start command to get the PSP.exe to run. Also, I couldn't get the pinging to mean anything. In other words when I would run this cmd, the license would start, PSP would start. The CMD script wouldn't end until I exited PSP completely. For those wondering, just make a text file where your PSP.exe resides. Insert the above, make sure the Corel Paint Shop Pro.exe matches your exe and save. Then rename the text file to anyname.CMD When you make a shortcut to that CMD file or double click it, it will run V2 Protection, start PSP, then after PSP exits the CMD file will exit.

bought Corel paint shop pro ultimate x2 and wanted now to deactive psiservice. - corel no longer works. I just completely removed corel from my machine - never pay again for corel products. I rate it dangerous because if affects performance of my machine and it even runs when no corel product is running.
