Short Answer: "C:\\Windows\\UpdReg.EXE" is not needed and it is safe to disable or remove it from your Windows StartUp folder and/or registry start up locations. You can even completely delete the file from your system if you want to. Long Answer: "C:\\Windows\\UpdReg.EXE" is part of Creative's (the company) software suites or driver packages to periodically remind you to register your Creative product. You probably have (or used to have) a Creative SoundBlaster type of sound card, or something similar by the company, installed on your computer, and UpdReg.EXE was installed along with it at some point, whether by manually installing the drivers / software or possibly even via Windows Update. So, unless you like to be nagged ... errr .. "reminded" to register your purchases, you can disable or remove the file from your system with no ill effects. | |||
