| hpqtra08.exe causes multiple "stopped working and was closed" errors of various services in my Vista laptop. Also slows down PC startup significantly. Usually not needed (just keep the HP Solution Center icon on the desktop or QuickLaunch bar for when you want to do scanning). Updated versions continue to cause these symptoms. Best to use msconfig.exe --> Startup tab to disable it from running. | |||

| To be clear, as posted by others, if you use the controls on the printer to start the scanning process, you need this. If you use (eg) Scanner and Camera Wizard to start the scans, then you don't. It is generally a piece of junk, unless you like starting scans, etc from the printer control panel. Get rid of it, and learn to use software! | |||

| My scanner-printer as off almost all the time, so I have removed this process from the StarUp. If I need it, I will run it manually. | |||

| This is as " pedxing" said above -- "awful piece of bloated software". Constant app hangs would shut me down sometimes several times a day (all this to moniter my ink level or other baby sitting functions). Block it -- put a post-it on printer if you need scan function -- then re-block. | |||
