If you are running MsMpEng.exe under MS Security Essentials, there may be a conflict with Mpcmdrun.exe still running under Windows Defender, even though the latter is disabled causing hogging of your CPU. It's hard to stop. Try re-naming the Windows Defender folders if you can't find/disable in Task Scheduler. | |||

Leave enabled if you use Microsoft Security Essentials. Otherwise I am fairly sure you can disable, but it may possibly re-enable its self anyway. | |||

if you are using M.S.SECURITY ESSENTIALS...then leave it enabled... I find the security essentials an excellent program | |||
