| Unnecessary (it may speed up access to QuickTime, but if it does it's not measurable), obtrusive (it is installed automatically by QuickTime and there is no option to exclude it from installation) and it bears similarities to malware (it can be excluded from startup, but the relevant registry entries will be recreated the first time QuickTime is launched). Need I say more? | |||

| i wouldn't say it was dangerous, at all. it may slow you computer down, but it is not spy-ware, so it isn't 'dangerous' irritating, yes dangerous, no. also, if you use VLC Media Player, you don't need QuickTime, unless you need it for iTunes, on which ground i am totally lost, as i wouldn't touch iTunes (or Limewire, or anything of that type of spy-ware ridden crap) with a 1000 foot barge pole. as for getting rid of it, i use a very neat little program called Autoruns, which even shows you all the little .dll's that get switched on during start-up, and in my experience, if i used Autoruns to turn something off, it doesn't return unless i let it. | |||
