I am unsure, But I would assume this is unnecessary for sharing over local Networks. I have an AS degree but 25 years old, but have been using computers [on daily basis]since late 1997, and used since 1985. Which mean I am usually mostly right, or totally off. :) They change even faster, and many of the rules too. And I doubt it would affect 3rd part file sharing programs. I am sure enough to turn off. I will report back any bad results, If any.

Small Edit. I said probably unecessary for Sharing over "local networks". I either concluded that based on looking at service dependencies. Or may have meant if you do not need to share.
