SYSTRAY.EXE - System Tray Services. Provides the Volume Control, PC Card Status, Power Management and other icons that reside in the System Tray (see here). SYSTRAY.EXE may be disabled if none of these services are required. It will launch as and when required if you later enable the icons. essential for pcmcia slot status and control in win9x versions, without it one cannot safely stop a pcmcia card prior to removal with laptop powered up. | |||

"SystemTray" is an Essential part of the M$ windoofs OS . IF you disable "SystemTray" most of the TaskBar is also unfortunately Disabled! DO NOT REMOVE !!! | |||

This file is a hold over from Windows 98 / ME. If you did an upgrade to XP from either of these OSes you will have the systray.exe file. Clean installs of XP do not have it. If your machine has a FAT32 file system and systray.exe, chances are that it was an upgrade from 98/ME. | |||
